from our customers who wanted lower body
protection which also addressed the hip
region with 360 degree cover. Upper cuisse
tassets at the front and rear are water
hardened, compressed, fluted and creased
leaving no question as to the battle worthy
protection.
Water
hardened molded and fluted upper skirt protects
the hips, front and rear.

Scythian

A perfect
match to the Scythian cuirass, this war skirt
is composed of overlapping plates of 7/8 oz
leather attached to a soft leather lining.
The scales are textured to appear as beaten
metal or cooled molten rock. Unlike many other
types of actual leather armour, it may be
worn without padding in most cases.
This
skirt was originally designed for use by
dancers in the Opera presentation of "Grendel"
which premiered in June, 2006. Full flexibility
of movement is accomplished. NO restriction
whatsoever.

Armour crafted
in historically correct 13th Century styling.
We based the design of these legs on late 13th
century effigies and use a traditional
cuibouille hardening method that very few
armourers employ today. Poleyns and Rondels
are hardened in a several step process that
requires patience, precision, and care. The
end result is a beautiful waterproof hardness
that is the toughest barrier you can get with
leather armour.

Greek "Hoplite"

Fans
of Greek and Roman style armour will
appreciate our reproduction of the very
popular and highly functional greaves which
were thought to have been originally formed by
gluing several layers of linen together.
Inasmuch as Greeks did have cows around, for
food, sacrifice, etc., it is much more likely
that they formed their "hoplite" greaves
from...yes, leather. Bronze was also used for this
purpose, but was harder to fashion, more
expensive, and much more tiring to move
in for any length of time. Available in

These
leather greaves, much like the classical
vambraces, took on a personality of their
own in their crafting. They match up with
our "Classical Vambraces", but have any number of applications.
The heavy 13/15 oz leather used in their
construction is hardened in two ways, by
our own "courbouille" method,
and through compression which leaves the
linear fluted lines running vertically.
The knees are fastened separately over the
lower greaves, are also hardened using
the same hardening and compression technique,
and have their own characteristic "hourglass"
shape. Available in black, dark brown (shown),
